HOW FAR TREATMENT HAS COME
by Caleb Clemons February 28th, 2026

In the 1950s, a child born with cystic fibrosis rarely lived long enough to attend elementary school.
If Sofia had been born during that time, her life expectancy would have been heartbreakingly short.
Because of medical research and advances in treatment, that is no longer the case. Today, children with cystic fibrosis are living longer and fuller lives than ever before.
But there is still no cure.
Every breakthrough matters. Every research dollar matters. Every new therapy developed through organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation changes the future for children like Sofia.
Progress has been made. Hope has grown. But the mission is not finished.
